Conference promotes creative design in Beijing and HK

The Beijing Hong Kong Creative Design Conference was held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Nov 17.The cultural creative industries in Beijing and Hong Kong took the opportunity to share experiences and seek cooperation.

As an important section of the 19th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium, the conference focused on cultural innovation, design services, and industrial convergence.

Zhou Maofei, director of the Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Office (SOCASAO), introduced the development of Beijing’s cultural creative industry including supportive government policies, and gave suggestions on how to enhance the industry’s development in Beijing and Hong Kong. The suggestions included building up a cooperation platform, encouraging personal communication, promoting Beijing-Hong Kong brand activities, and further enhancing the industrial convergence of both sides.

Liao Yongliang, director of the HK government’s CreateHK, introduced the present situation of the cultural creative industry in Hong Kong, and illustrated the experience of industrial development with practical cases. He welcomed more cultural creative companies from Beijing to go to Hong Kong for further consultations.

The Beijing Hong Kong Creative Design Conference aims to enhance communication between the cultural creative industry in Beijing and Hong Kong, and build up a platform for cooperation and learning between governments, industrial organizations and businesses. During the symposium, the SOCASAO will arrange for cultural companies from Beijing to visit Hong Kong companies to learn from their experience in design industry support and reform and logistic development of city cultures.

City government leaders, major cultural innovation companies, and industry organizations attended the conference.
