An important gathering themed on sustainable manufacturing took place in Guangyuan, Sichuan, as a major green home industry conference opened on Dec 22.

Focused on smart manufacturing and low-carbon development, the event brought together industry stakeholders to explore the sector's sustainable growth trajectory.

Guangyuan's strength stems from its unique advantages. As Sichuan's first national low-carbon pilot city, it serves as a key transportation hub in Southwest China, boasting abundant clean energy, mineral reserves, and forestry resources – ideal for producing panel, solid wood, stone, and aluminum furniture.

Policy backing accelerates its rise. Designated a provincial green home industry base, the city benefits from manufacturing-focused initiatives.

The broader food and light textile sector, including green home goods, now exceeds one trillion yuan ($138.9 billion), forming a pillar of Sichuan's economy. A 10-billion-yuan industrial cluster thrives in its dedicated park.

The conference helped turn ideas into action. Experts and enterprises discussed tech innovation and low-carbon production, while two key milestones emerged: the launch of a local green smart home innovation center and the certification of "qualified suppliers for green building materials going to the countryside".

Cooperation took center stage. Forty agreements were signed, totaling 11.463 billion yuan – encompassing 31 investment projects and nine trade deals, reflecting strong market confidence in Guangyuan's potential.

The next steps for Guangyuan include advancing three core hub projects: an international wood trade center, a smart home innovation hub, and a western green home manufacturing base.

The city will continue optimizing its business environment and prioritizing technological innovation and low-carbon production to support the sector's expansion across regional and global markets.
