The Jianmen Pass Scenic Area, a national forest park and a national 5A-level tourist attraction in Guangyuan city in Southwest China's Sichuan province, has inaugurated Party Working Committee and Management Committee, with a ceremony held on Nov 20.

Addressing the event, He Shuping, secretary of the Communist Party of China Guangyuan Municipal Committee, emphasized the establishment of these committees as a way to promote the thorough integration of culture and tourism.

The move aligns with the decisions of the 12th Sichuan Provincial Party Congress to develop the ancient pass into an international cultural tourism destination and a wellness resort, he said, adding the goals include creating a world-class tourist destination linking Jianmen Pass and Zhaohua Ancient City, and enhancing the scenic quality of the area.

He highlighted the need for strategic planning, cultural preservation, and the development of interconnected tourism routes with other renowned sites, enhancing visitor services and promoting the development of cultural heritage. He also stressed the importance of taking innovative marketing approaches and leveraging market forces to drive the scenic area's development.

Yuan Huabing, Guangyuan's deputy Party secretary and mayor, called for improved planning and tourism service quality, emphasizing the creation of a "regional tourism community" through collaborative efforts. The committees should strengthen the pass's cultural brand, integrate resources to boost the scenic area's prosperity and contribute to Guangyuan's goal of becoming an international tourism city, Yuan said.
