As autumn paints the orchard with golden hues, it's harvest time for red kiwifruit in Cangxi county, Guangyuan city, Sichuan province – where the fruit has entered its prime picking season.

Cangxi is the global birthplace of red kiwifruit. Its fruits boast a tender, juicy texture and sweet, refreshing taste, with a pedigree rooted in local soil.

Back in 1986, agricultural technicians stumbled upon the world's first red kiwifruit tree in the woods of Dongxi town, northern Cangxi. This discovery not only rewrote the global kiwifruit story – once dominated by green and yellow-fleshed varieties – but also started Cangxi's journey of cultivating and developing this unique fruit.

"Only when the sugar content hits 7.0 Brix or higher can we start picking," an agritechnician said. "Look at our kiwis – uniform in size, vibrant in color, and perfectly shaped."

In Cangxi, a single red kiwifruit blooms into a diverse product line. At the Cangxi Red Kiwifruit Brand Exhibition Hall, 58 value-added products take center stage: kiwifruit juice, jam, wine, dried fruit, noodles, and enzymes, to name a few.

This small, sweet fruit has grown into a "golden harvest" that lifts local communities out of poverty and fuels prosperity.
