Grand parade thrills Guangyuan
A vibrant public celebration took over Guangyuan's streets on the morning of Sept 1 as a 2.3-kilometer parade from Qintai Square eastward turned the city into a sea of joy, drawing throngs of onlookers.
Kicking off at 9:55 am to great fanfare, the procession was led by a striking float: a golden phoenix poised for flight, an actor embodying Wu Zetian (China's only female emperor) with regal grace, and the glowing slogan "Visit Guangyuan's Great Shu Road, Crown Beauty" – a nod to the city's rich past and a warm welcome to the world.

A highlight was a float showcasing local culture, from Baihua stone carving to Maliu embroidery, brought to life with lively lion dances that celebrated these age-old crafts. The closing float, featuring pandas, bamboo, and Jianmen Pass motifs, underscored Guangyuan's commitment to environmental sustainability.
Cultural exchanges shined through: Shaanxi's thunderous Ansai waist drum performances and Serbia's lively folk dances created a vivid cross-border dialogue.
County delegations added unique flair – Cangxi's high-wire acts, Wangcang's dragon dances – while community groups, including dancers and cheongsam enthusiasts, mirrored the city's diversity.

Concluding at Lizhou Square, the event left spectators dazzled. "Each year is more spectacular than the last!" said one local. Beyond entertainment, it wove together culture and openness, painting a bright picture of Guangyuan's future.
