Building on a 36-year tradition, this year's festival combines day and night events. It features street parades, sports, night cruises, and square performances, offering activities for all ages. Special promotions such as free entry for women and high-speed rail discounts are designed to attract visitors.
Cultural highlights feature opening ceremonies with boat parades that celebrate local heritage, such as the Great Shu Road and the history of Wu Zetian (China's only female emperor). Nighttime events like Phoenix Rises Over Lizhou blend scenic landscapes with storytelling, while traditional elements like intangible cultural heritage are integrated with cosplay and e-sports.
International flair adds excitement: three international teams will compete in the dragon boat race, while Serbian dancers participate in parades. Travel representatives from Japan, South Korea, and other countries will attend the opening.
The festival offers lively day and night activities to promote tourism, celebrate traditions, and build international ties.
