Discover Guangyuan this summer: A Journey through mountains, water and ancient paths
On May 10, cultural and tourism ambassadors from Guangyuan, Sichuan province, showcased the city's rich tourism resources and special summer offers at a promotional event in Chengdu, the provincial capital. This season, Guangyuan welcomes visitors to experience its unique natural landscapes, historical heritage, and vibrant cultural offerings.

Nature retreats in the mountains
Zengjia Mountain, a subalpine destination along the historic Shudao (ancient road to Sichuan), sits at an elevation of 1,300 meters and maintains a pleasant average summer temperature of 23℃. Often described as a natural oxygen bar, the area is renowned for promoting health and longevity, with negative oxygen ion concentrations reaching up to 33,000 per cubic centimeter.
At Tangjiahe Nature Reserve, visitors may encounter rare wildlife such as giant pandas, golden snub-nosed monkeys, and takins. The reserve is also home to ancient ginkgo trees and the dove tree (Davidia involucrata), a living fossil. In addition, the enchanting Xuexi Cave features stunning natural formations, including stalactites, stone curtains, and intricate stone flowers.
Refreshing waterscapes and outdoor fun
Guangyuan also offers an array of exciting water-based activities. At Bailong Lake, which spans 70 square kilometers, speedboats and jet skis provide exhilarating rides across open water.
Tangjiahe's whitewater rapids present another adventure, with a vertical drop of over 200 meters offering a thrilling kayaking and rafting experience.
Families can unwind at Lisianhu Water World, where features like floating treadmills and parent-child boats create fun and memorable moments for all ages.
Cultural experiences and rural tranquility
For those seeking peace and inspiration, Guangyuan's scenic countryside offers a welcome escape. Guests can stay at guesthouses nestled in the mountains beside rivers and lakes, where starry nights and the sounds of nature provide a serene backdrop.
Immersive live-action performances, such as The Jiameng History, bring to life the stories and legends of the ancient Shudao, adding depth to the visitor experience.
Tracing the footsteps of history
Guangyuan also appeals to history enthusiasts with its iconic Shudao. Since 2023, the "Ancient Shudao Hiking Tour" has attracted nearly 600,000 participants and ignited a nationwide interest in exploring this historic route.
In partnership with leading online travel platforms such as Trip.com and HopeGoo, Guangyuan has developed customized hiking packages. The routes are now available on Amap, with seasonal events guiding visitors through the changing scenery along the ancient trail.
Easy access and discounts
Traveling to Guangyuan has never been so easier, thanks to nearly 200 daily high-speed train services and 20 air routes connecting to major cities across China. This improved accessibility makes spontaneous travel both convenient and enjoyable.
To welcome travelers, Guangyuan is offering exclusive summer discounts. Visitors arriving by high-speed rail can enjoy 30 percent off admission to all national A-level scenic spots within one week of arrival, simply by presenting valid ID along with their train ticket.
