Ancient coming-of-age ceremony in Guangyuan
On Feb 20, a traditional coming-of-age ceremony was held in Guangyuan, Sichuan province. Girls from Guangyuan Lizhou Secondary Specialized School participated in the Ji Li, which honors females who have turned 15.

Dressed in traditional Hanfu, they completed rituals such as hairpin placement and ceremonial toasts, accompanied by solemn music. The event drew many spectators, including local residents and cultural enthusiasts.
The coming-of-age ceremony is a significant rite of passage in Chinese tradition, symbolizing a girl's readiness for familial and social responsibilities.

During the event, the girls received blessings from mentors -- to cultivate virtue and navigate their future with wisdom and success-- and presented tea to elders as a sign of gratitude.
Participant He Qiuying said: "I am thrilled to be part of this ceremony. It deepened my understanding of Chinese culture. I will strive to be responsible and committed."
