Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated with a "Thousands Admiring the Moon" event at Qingchuan Basketball Park in Guangyuan, Sichuan province on Sept 13.

The park came alive with applause and cheers for the captivating performances, including a poem recitation, Sichuan opera face-changing and song-and-dance pieces.

One of the evening's highlights was a qipao (cheongsam) and hanfu traditional Chinese dress parade, with scores of women and children donning elegant costumes, with flower lanterns in their hands. Their graceful movements created a unique spectacle in the bustling streets.

In addition, fun activities such as guessing lantern riddles and making lacquer fans attracted numerous locals and tourists. The charming mountain town was aglow with lights and laughter, radiating a festive atmosphere.

"A vibrant culture should not be confined to textbooks; it should be alive, emotional and meaningful," said a representative from Qingchuan county.

"We aim to present our rich cultural heritage to the public through diverse formats and occasions.”

Looking ahead, officials emphasized their commitment to further exploring local cultural resources and continuously innovating festival activities to enhance their quality and influence.
