The 1st Guangyuan Folk Music Contest was held at the tourism service center in Zhaohua ancient town on May 20.

The contest aimed to carry forward fine traditional Chinese culture, further enhance the city's cultural strength, and promote folk culture in northern Sichuan, sponsored by the Publicity Department of Guangyuan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Guangyuan Federation of Literary & Art Circles, and the district CPC committee and government of Zhaohua.

There were 14 contestants from seven district-level areas, who conveyed their love and praise toward Guangyuan and local natural landscape.

The song titled "Love of the Mountains and Rivers", recommended by Lizhou district, won first prize at the music contest.
