Francis Gurry, former director-general of WIPO, was appointed as honorary dean of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University. An appointment ceremony was held in Shanghai on Nov 13, 2020.

Gurry participated in the ceremony through video link. Shen Changyu, commissioner of CNIPA, sent Gurry a letter of congratulations and Chen Qun, vice-mayor of Shanghai and Fang Shou'en, Party secretary of Tongji University, participated in the ceremony.

The 2020 International IP Operation Forum of SINOIP, a sub-forum of the 17th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum, was held in Shanghai on Oct 20, 2020, with the theme "Industrial Transformation and Application of IP Under the New International Situation". Chen Qun, vice-mayor of Shanghai, attended and addressed the forum.

The First SIPSA International Summit on IP Services – a sub-forum of the 17th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum – was held in Shanghai on Oct 21, 2020.

With the theme of "New Era, New Economy, New Measures: Building IP Protection Forefront Through High-quality IP Services", the forum was organized by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration – with the Shanghai Intellectual Property Services Association, or SIPSA, assisting.

Yu Lijuan, then deputy secretary general of the Shanghai municipal government, addressed the forum.

Rui Wenbiao, director general of SIPA and Lei Xinghui, vice-principal of Tongji University, attended the forum.
