In autumn, Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, a historical site located 30 kilometers away from downtown Shanghai, shows its tranquil charm.

The park has been dubbed the "Root of Shanghai" as it allows visitors to explore the city's ancient way of life.

It is a must-visit site in Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort in Songjiang district and has been recognized as a 4A-level scenic area last year, the second highest designation in China’s five-tier ranking system of tourism sites.

Guangfulin was a cultural, political, economic, and transportation center in ancient times. Its original surroundings have been preserved, offering a chance to experience the authentic rural scenery and farming culture at the park.

The 600,000-square-meter archaeological site, where relics of an ancient culture dating back to the Neolithic Age have been unearthed, hosts many artifacts from the ancient inhabitants living in the area 5,000 years ago.

There are also specially-designed cultural and archaeological exhibition halls, as well as commercial hotels, allowing visitors to enjoy the past and present simultaneously.

To celebrate Teacher’s Day on Sept 10, teachers with qualification certificates can enter the park for free on Sept 10 and 11.

As the new school semester begins, special tickets priced at 19.9 yuan ($3.08) per person for college students are currently on sale and will last until Sept 18.

In addition, the public area of Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park has been opened for free.

Address: Intersection of Guangfulin Road and Longyuan Road, Songjiang district, Shanghai
