Guangfulin Country Park holds urban orienteering competition

An urban orienteering competition was held at Guangfulin Country Park in Shanghai's Songjiang district on Dec 3 to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Hosted by Songjiang District Disabled Persons' Federation and Songjiang District Sports Bureau, the event aimed to help the disabled participate in sports, integrate into society and further lure people to understand and care for the disabled.

Wang Zhijian, the vice president of Songjiang district and Kong Linde, the officer of Songjiang District Sports Bureau attended the opening ceremony.

More than 300 people participated in the event. The competition is divided into the deaf group, the mutilated group and the blind group with the length of 6.5 kilometers, 4.5 kilometers and 4.0 kilometers respectively.

A four-person team consists of two disabled people and two volunteers.

Before the competition, the volunteers all received professional training in batches, such as sign language to facilitate communication and closer the distance with players.
