Shanghai happy valley, a large-scale amusement theme park in Shanghai's Songjiang district was named as the most popular theme park in 2018 at an award ceremony held by China National Tourism magazine in Shanghai on Nov 17.
Twenty-four awards in five categories were given out to scenic spots, hotels and travel agencies who have made outstanding contributions to the development of China's tourism industry.
Shanghai Happy Valley is part of a corporate brand that includes Shenzhen Happy Valley, Beijing Happy Valley and Chengdu Happy Valley.
The attraction has for years focused on importing the best entertainment facilities from abroad to attract young thrill-seekers.
The Diving Coaster, China's highest roller coaster, was introduced from the US and Switzerland, while the Wooden Coaster-Fireball, the country's first wooden ride, was also built using overseas technology.
Additionally, it is also organizing a series of special amusement activities and festival events all year round to cater for young, novelty-seeking audiences, such as international magic shows, the "lake of illusions", a high-tech multimedia water show mixing water fountains, light shows, music, and fireworks.
