Efforts to protect endangered plants

The Chenshan Botanic Garden will host an exhibition on rare and endangered plants from April 18 to May 30, in an effort to raise the public awareness on saving these precious plants.

The botanic garden has set up an exhibition hall to display the fruits, seeds and specimen of rare and endangered plants, with detailed information on the risky situation of these plants and advices on protecting them.

The garden has more than 150 varieties of rare and endangered plants. It has built a special garden and a corridor to introduce them.

Since the garden opened five years ago, it has established a team of experts nurturing seeds of rare and endangered plants and making scientific research on them, especially rare and endangered species of orchid, fern and fagaceae.

Leaflets on protecting rare and endangered plants will be dispersed to visitors. Experts will be invited to give speeches on the topic.

The exhibition was launched by the Chinese Union of Botanic Gardens and participated by dozens of botanic gardens nationwide.
