Spring in full swing

As the Lantern Festival is around the corner on Mar 5, scenic spots in Shanghai have plenty of celebrations to fuel the festival and welcome early spring.

Though its routine lantern parade is canceled due to safety concerns, the Guyi Garden in Nanxiang town of Jiading district still prepares daytime colored light show for tourists. It also prepares for the tourist rush that might occur.

From Mar 5 to 8, traditional colorful lights will also be put on display at the garden. Tourists can also have a taste of specially-made rice dumplings on Mar 5.

The Songjiang Tower Park in Songjiang district will have a spring garden party running from Feb 24 to Mar 8, with performances of Shanghai opera and Shaoxing opera, brick carving exhibition, folk dances, lantern riddles and dragon parade.

The Happy Valley in Sheshan National Resort will have some evening event on Mar 5. Apart from the singing and dancing performance, several entertainment activities, including the popular Twin-Tower Heroes, a skydiver dropping game, will last till midnight.
