Scott, who was born July 16, 1980, in Adelaide, South Australia, was a winner at both the 1996 and 1997 Australia Youth Golf Championship, as well as the 1997 Doug Sanders World Youth Championship, before dropping out of school completely, at the end of 1999. By 2000, he was an amateur player, with a surprising ranking among the Top 10 at the Benson & Hedges International Open Golf Championship and Moroccan Open Golf Championship.
He turned professional, in June 2000 and his perfect swing, handsome looks, and calm demeanor got a good response from audiences, but he still practiced hard in hope of one day becoming the best player in the world.

In his 23 years, he became the youngest player to beat such stars as Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington, in the 5th grand slam, in 2004. In 2005, he won a Nissan Open Championship, and in 2006, the tournament championship, and, the next year, at the Houston Open Championship. In 2013 he became Australia's first golfer to win The Masters, a tournament with a 77-year history.
