The first Shanghai International Orchid Exhibition lasting from March 29 to April 22 displays over 50,000 orchids of nearly 1,000 varieties from 14 countries and regions. The exotic feast of orchids has attracted over 10,000 visitors.

The orchids settings displayed in the Tropical Flower Hall are masterpieces from different countries. The French setting highlights the magic and charm of wild orchids utilizing graceful Paphiopedilums, Tillandsia usneoides, dead wood and other orchids. The Thai setting creates a mysterious orchid valley with purple Vandas, orange Ascocendas and red Phalaenopsises with a flowing waterfall.

The Spanish setting boasts a nostalgic sentiment with Paphiopedilums grown in leather suitcases, a guitar on the grass and a scattering of music scores. The American setting depicts a street music performance with yellow Oncidiums and purple Phalaenopsises.

The settings made by orchid experts from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, the UK and Germany have also delighted visitors with their unique, exotic glamour.
