London Olympic torch bearer Wu Xingfen was present at the start of the Shanghai Happy Valley torch relay to celebrate the start of the London Olympic Games. She was joined by staff, park fans and media on July 26, 2012.

Wu Xingfen, a female teacher who sponsored the Home for Left-Behind Children, was selected to carry the London Olympic flame after being the torch bearer in the Guangzhou Asian Games and Shenzhen Universiade. Her unexpected appearance in Shanghai's Happy Valley thrilled the crowd.

The route for the torch relay covered seven sections of the park, with three top rides serving as stops. The torch bearer also had to hold the torch while sitting in the wooden rollercoaster, the first in China and the highest in Asia, as it flew dizzyingly through the air.

Shanghai Happy Valley will hold other activities for its carnival. The park plans to hold performances at Arthur Palace Theatre, put on beer tasting events and broadcast Olympic events on the biggest LED screen in Shanghai.

There are also guessing games held on the official mircoblog every day. The winner of the games will have a chance to receive an entrance ticket for the carnival at Happy Valley.
