Extensive shipping services are developed

In 2014, China Ship Realtime Monitor Center and China Ship Oil Pollution & Damage Compensation Center were approved in Shanghai. IMRF Asia-Pacific Center, Shanghai International Aviation Arbitration Court, CCPIT Shanghai General Average Adjustment Center, and Secretariat of Asia Classification Society all have established in Shanghai. Shipping service companies and organizations including World No.1 oil liner Teekey Group, international insurance giant American Steamship Owners Mutual Protection, the first LNG ship management company China Shipping LNG Management, Pacific International Lines, and Shipping Business Unit of Sino-Trans have been located in Pudong. Huatai, Tianan, China Continent, and China Life Property Insurance have set up shipping insurance operation centers. The city has a total of nine shipping insurance operation centers.

In 2014, the premium for ship and cargo insurance totaled 4.02 billion yuan, 6.89 percent higher than 2013. Ship insurance premium has accounted for 40 percent of China and cargo insurance has accounted for 26.7 percent, both ranking No.1 domestically. In 2014, vessels registered in Shanghai for international lines totaled 415, accounting for 33 percent of vessels registered in China. The registered tonnage totaled 11.36 million, accounting for 41.9 percent of China.
