In early winter, vast fields of winter wheat create a vibrant scene in Daiyue district's Dawenkou town, in Shandong's Tai'an. Building on the agricultural heritage of Wenyang farm and modern demonstration fields, the district has developed a 6,667-hectare modern grain production zone, ensuring stable annual yields of over 380,000 metric tons. This year, summer grain output saw higher area, yield, and total production, with per-mu (about 0.067 hectare) yields ranking third in the province.

Beyond securing grain supply, Daiyue is expanding into high-value modern agriculture. In Fangcun village, a 26.67-hectare tomato project is under construction, featuring 48 high-standard greenhouses and a processing facility. Once operational, it is expected to generate over 26 million yuan ($3.7 million) in annual revenue.

Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Daiyue has integrated agricultural, ecological, and cultural development to boost rural development and farmers' incomes. In 2024, the district's agricultural output value exceeded 14 billion yuan, with rural per capita disposable income reaching 25,000 yuan.

In Jiunyufeng township, located at the foot of Taishan Mountain in Tai'an, eco-tourism thrives alongside cultural projects like "the moon of the hometown," an immersive performance that has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors, driving growth in homestays and local product sales.

From strengthening food security to fostering diversified rural industries, Daiyue exemplifies a balanced, sustainable path to rural vitalization, where economic growth, ecological preservation, and cultural vibrancy progress hand in hand.
