Tai'an stages ICH interpreter competition
The final of the Tai'an selection competition for the 2024 Shandong intangible cultural heritage (ICH) interpreters was held in Taishan district, Tai'an on July 30.
The final competition consisted of two parts: live interpretation and a question and answer session. The scores of the contestants were determined on-site by a panel of judges composed of authoritative experts in ICH, broadcasting and hosting, and cultural tourism.
During the competition, contestants presented a rich array of diverse content, such as demonstrations of Feicheng peach wood carving, which contributes to rural vitalization and increases local efficiency, and the ancient artistry of Taishan Shadow Puppetry.
The competition concluded with two first prizes, four second prizes, six third prizes, 11 outstanding awards, nine outstanding organization awards, and the selection of eight Tai'an ICH ambassadors.
The Tai'an selection competition has garnered widespread attention since its inception, receiving 60 preliminary video submissions from six counties, cities, districts, schools, relevant units, and individuals. Twenty-four entries were selected on July 19 by five experts to advance to the finals.
The competition not only strengthened the preservation of ICH in Tai'an, but also contributed to the cultivation of an excellent team of interpreters.
