Dongping Lake shimmers with rippling waves, attracting various birds to its shores in the warm spring.

Dongping county in Tai'an has been using an information management platform and a fully automated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) patrol system to enhance bird protection efforts.

The information management platform utilizes advanced technology to monitor and manage bird habitats and populations.

Dongping also emphasizes the importance of a sound management and protection team, establishing and equipping a large number of public welfare patrol teams and ecological forest rangers and fully leveraging the role of community organizations and volunteers.

The natural environment of Dongping Lake continues to improve, attracting many birds under national first-class protection, such as the Siberian white crane, and the settlement of Baer's pochards – a critically endangered wild duck.

In November 2023, Dongping Lake Wetland was listed as part of the first batch of nationally important habitats for migratory birds by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
