On June 3, Yuefeng Primary School in Daiyue district, Tai'an, hosted a tour event in English, drawing over a hundred Chinese and foreign teachers from schools in the Tai'an urban area primary school English teaching and research community. The event featured an immersive experience of Mount Tai's intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items.

At the exhibition booths, students from the school introduced the development history of Mount Tai's intangible cultural heritage items in English, explaining the production processes and showcasing the unique charm of these cultural treasures to the attending teachers.

"We are very interested in Mount Tai's ICH items, so we formed a research group for project-based learning," said Zhou Yichen, a student from the school.

The students will not only dedicate themselves to the study and preservation of Mount Tai's ICH items, but also promote and share fascinating stories about the mountain with children from other countries in English, Zhou said.

The impressive performances of the students during the event highlighted the achievements of the school's project-based learning approach in English education.

In recent years, the school has been exploring and practicing project-based learning in English. They have developed a series of locally inspired school-based courses that are popular with students, significantly enhancing their ability to express themselves in English, their hands-on skills, and their teamwork abilities, said Shou Yanju, head of the school's English teaching team.

The foreign teachers participating in the event expressed their fascination with Tai'an's rich historical and cultural heritage and its diverse ICH items. They acknowledged that ICH is not only a valuable asset of China, but also part of the world's cultural heritage.
