Tai'an in East China's Shandong province was awarded the right to host the 2025 World Taekwondo President's Cup Asian Region at the Asian Taekwondo Union's General Assembly held in Da Nang, Vietnam, on May 13.

In 2025, Tai'an is expected to welcome over 500 elite taekwondo athletes from over 40 countries and regions vying for Olympic ranking points.

The competition is a pivotal event in the global promotion and dissemination of taekwondo, recognized as a G2 level Olympic point tournament. The competition is segmented into regions across Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania.

The competition operates on an open registration basis, welcoming taekwondo athletes registered under the World Taekwondo Federation.

Tai'an, renowned for its historical, cultural and touristic significance, has recently achieved remarkable milestones in the realm of sports. In March, it successfully hosted the Asian Qualification Tournament for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, attracting 325 athletes and coaches from 32 countries and regions in Asia.

The high-level organization of these events have not only yielded profound social, economic, and industrial benefits for Tai'an, but have also significantly enhanced the city's global influence in sports. Garnering widespread acclaim within the taekwondo community and beyond, Tai'an has emerged as a prominent player on the international sports stage. 

In the future, the city will strive to attract more top-tier domestic and international sporting events to the city. Spearheaded by major competitions, it envisions cultivating an industry cluster housing regional headquarters of various types of sports companies to drive the innovative development of infrastructure and investment in cultural tourism, sports competitions, cultural entertainment, hotels, tourism, and other related industries.
