Taishan district in the city of Tai'an, Shandong province, has been dedicated to turning itself into a destination for cultural and wellness tourism in recent years. 

To do so, Taishan district has leveraged its ecological advantages and rich medical resources to create new models of tourism focusing on wellness and elderly care.

The district has seen the emergence of a good deal of health care and wellness projects in recent years, including Taishan Health Care Center, which provides long-term and short-term care, regular recuperation and residential care for the elderly; Taishan Qinheyuan, a home-based health care community that integrates medical and rehabilitation; Novolife International Medical Center, which provides users with high-end health management services throughout the life cycle of preventing serious diseases, managing chronic diseases, and promoting health; and Tai'an Yangxin Valley·Songyuan Hotel, a high-end resort for cultural and wellness tourism. 

Taishan district was recently designated as an example for the development of cultural and wellness tourism by the Shandong provincial government.
