Taishan district in Tai'an has been included in the list of "strong counties in Shandong province for opening-up" in 2022, and will receive financial support of 10 million yuan ($1.4 million), the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce announced recently.

According to official statistics, Taishan district has the most foreign trade companies in the city. In 2022, the volume of imports and exports in the district increased 45.8 percent compared to the previous year. In the first half of 2023, the district's volume of imports and exports increased by 7.4 percent year-on-year, the highest in the city.

In recent years, Taishan district and Tai'an's commerce bureaus have been cooperating with each other to bolster efforts to create innovative work mechanisms. 

For example, the commerce bureaus have been beefing up efforts to cultivate a textile and garment characteristic industrial cluster, build international independent brands such as Renoir, and speed up the development of new business forms such as cross-border e-commerce. They have also encouraged companies to make use of high-quality overseas capital through methods like mergers and acquisitions, stock expansion and equity investment.
