Over 30 international students from the Canadian International School of Beijing had an academic research tour of Buyangzhuang village in Qiujiadian town, Tai'an, Shandong province, exploring traditional Chinese farming culture and folk culture.

The students, who are from several countries including the United States and Canada, experienced the countryside by visiting local households, transplanting seedlings and melons, creating graffiti on the walls, cooking, eating local food, and learning how to do farm work.

Buyangzhuang village was the first village in Tai'an to enjoy the reputation of opening-up and expressing a national civilization. The village is known as an overseas Chinese international cultural exchange base at the municipal level.

The village launched folk culture tourism in the 1980s. To date, nearly 7,000 expats from 35 countries have come to the village to experience Chinese folk life.

Buyangzhuang village has boosted rural vitalization through folk culture tourism by measures like exploring folk culture and the ecological advantages along the Wenhe River, revitalizing land resources, and creating folk culture theme parks and the ecological belt along Wenhe River.
