Tai'an students take academic research tour of Yellow River
Over 350 students and teachers from Tai'an Wonderland Primary School departed from Taishan Railway Station on April 15 for a two-day academic research tour about the Yellow River in Dongying, Shandong province.
During the tour, the teachers and students visited the estuary of the Yellow River, the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve, and Sinopec's Shengli Oilfield.
Boasting characteristic natural ecological resources, the estuary of the Yellow River is recognized as the best place to study the formation, evolution, and development of the estuarine newborn wetland ecosystem in China and the world. The Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve is home to 371 species of birds, including various rare and endangered birds. Sinopec's Shengli Oilfield boasts a magnificent oil field derrick and an advanced petrochemical industry chain. It is an important base to develop petroleum industry research trips.
The students also learned about the history, culture, and scenic areas of the cities along the railway route to the Yellow River.
The tour was expected to showcase the magnificent scenery, historic stories, and rich culture of the Yellow River to students, said Jia Yunfei, president of the primary school.
Academic research tours, which integrate tourism and education, have become increasingly popular in recent years.
