Tai'an in Shandong province generated a total output value of 127.29 billion yuan ($18.4 billion) in the construction industry last year, an increase of 8.8 percent from that in 2021, according to official data.

The growth rate was 1.8 percentage points higher than that of the rest of Shandong and ranked first among other cities in the province.

The added value of the construction industry was 43.8 billion yuan, and accounted for 13.7 percent of the city's regional gross domestic product. The industry has created 291,000 jobs, which plays a preeminent role in economic and social development.

Feicheng, a county-level city in Tai'an, is well-known for its construction and installation industry.

In 2022, the output value of Feicheng's construction industry totaled 89.32 billion yuan, an increase of 10.6 percent year-on-year, and the installation output value accounted for more than 80 percent.

Tai'an has gradually developed into a gathering place for many professional installation companies, such as those specializing in electromechanics and pipelines. Up to now, 80 percent of construction enterprises in Feicheng are engaged in the installation industry, and there are more than 130,000 employees employed in the sector.

"The ropeway of Taijian Group" is another advantage in Tai'an. The group is currently the largest passenger ropeway installation contractor in China, ranking first in the country in terms of ropeway construction, safe operations, and maintenance services. Among the nearly 1,100 ropeways in China, Taijian Group has contributed to building more than 800, and has a market share of 75 percent.

The city has taken the philosophy of "going global" as a strategic measure to boost the construction industry. It has contracted projects in 36 countries such as Russia, Algeria, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

In addition, Tai'an has rolled out a batch of beneficial policies and provided "one-stop" services for prefabricated building manufacturers to promote the development of prefabricated buildings. So far, it has completed a total of 289 prefabricated buildings with a total area of more than 10 million square meters.
