A mutual promotion event for Mount Tai and Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark was held at Tianwaicun Square in Tai'an, Shandong province on Feb 22.

Taking the promotion event as an opportunity, the two sides will cooperate with their respective unique natural resources and share advanced management experiences with each other, and further contribute to their geological tourism, geological education, and sustainable development of geological relics.

A total of 52 artworks were displayed at the event, showcasing stunning geological relics, beautiful scenery and unique culture, as well as a natural ecosystem of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grass and sand.

Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark was added to the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN) in August 2009, where it was listed as the world's only desert geopark.

The desert geopark has a total planned area of 630.37 square kilometers and consists of the Badanjilin, Tenggeli and Juyan sub-parks and ten associated scenic areas.
