Maminul Islam, a 25-year-old Bangladeshi studying in the Shandong First Medical University's School of International Education, is astonished by China's tall buildings, quick payment services, and convenient transportation.
The Chinese doctors, architects, and businesspeople he met when he was in Bangladesh were said to be hardworking and good at management. Thus, he decided to come to China to study medicine.
Maminul Islam began his studies in Tai'an, Shandong province in December 2019.
"I have taken part in various events, such as Mount Tai hiking, to celebrate Chinese traditional festivals and experience folk culture," he said.
"I am also amazed by China's development, like the scanning payment services and the high-speed train," he said. "Last year when I took the high-speed train to travel from Tai'an to Beijing, it took me only two hours," he added.
Maminul Islam is in his junior year and plans to apply for postgraduate studies.
"Whether staying China or going back home, I hope I can make full use of what I have learned here. I also hope to work with Chinese people," he said.
