The ward building project for the new branch of Tai'an Central Hospital will soon start construction as its contractor singed the contract on March 19.

The new branch, located in the Tai'an high-tech zone, is a municipal key construction project covering an area of 350,000 square meters with an estimated investment of 1.295 billion yuan ($1.93 million).

According to Shi Zhenfang, deputy director of Tai'an high-tech zone administrative committee, the branch is designed as a comprehensive 3A-grade hospital, the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals as well as a regional medical center.

The project is of great importance to meet local patients' needs and the Tai'an State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission will support its construction, said Liu Tairong, director of the commission.

Tai'an will also improve medical services at community level by launching more medical centers, where professional medical staff can provide first aid as well as knowledge about what to do in the event of an emergency.
