Worldwide wushu masters show off valor in Tai'an

More than 600 local and international martial arts masters showed off their expert skills at the recently concluded "Taishan Lunjian" International Martial Arts Competition in Tai'an, Shandong province.

The popular art form of "wushu" is a combination of different martial art-forms which have gained global recognition and have been practiced widely in numerous countries. The term "lunjian" literally translates to swordsmanship exchanges.

The event took place from Sept 15 to 17, and was jointly organized by the Shandong Provincial Sports Federation, the Tai'an Sports Federation and the Tai'an Association of Traditional Chinese Martial Arts. It gathered 69 teams, including seven foreign teams from the United States, Britain, France, Canada, Germany and Australia.

The event was one of the major activities scheduled as part of the annual International Mount Tai Climbing Festival, which aimed to promote physical fitness among the public and raise the international profile of the majestic Mount Tai.
