The opening ceremony for the 2nd Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) People's Games was held on Oct 18 at China University of Petroleum Qingdao Campus.
This quadrennial event is Qingdao WCNA's most prestigious and largest sports gathering, drawing nearly 90,000 participants across 18 distinct events in six categories. The Games have sparked enthusiasm for fitness and mass participation throughout the area.
The event is held under the theme, "Building a Vibrant New Area and Creating a City of Sports". It aims to implement national strategies for "Healthy China", promoting widespread physical activity, carrying forward the spirit of sportsmanship, and energizing a collective drive forward.
The opening ceremony was a dynamic audiovisual spectacle. Sixty-six contingents marched in synchronized steps, displaying the high spirits and positive mindset of the district's residents.
A performance by over 500 students, featuring a drum routine, resonated with the beat of youth.
Further demonstrations highlighted the appeal of sports like rope skipping, basketball, volleyball, and football, showcasing the energy and dynamism of the new generation.
The successful launch of the event underscores Qingdao WCNA's commitment to community health and cultural vitality.
