The 12th Party Congress of Qingdao formally opened on March 29 in the eastern coastal city of Shandong province. During the congress local officials will discuss the city’s achievements of the past five years and set overall goals for the next five years.
Qingdao has made significant progress in boosting its comprehensive strength and economy growth over the past five years. Its annual GDP reached 1 trillion yuan ($144.9 billion) in 2016, becoming the 12th Chinese city to achieve this milestone.
With new leadership, Qingdao plans to put forth earnest effort to further boost its economy, culture and the livelihoods of its residents.
