Qingdao advances as livable, modern metropolis through integrated management
Over the past five years, Qingdao has fully embraced the idea of being a "people-centered city", advancing high-standard planning, quality construction, and effective management in a coordinated way.
This approach has continually improved urban functions, boosted environmental quality, and increased carrying capacity, significantly enhancing the city's livability, business appeal, and tourism attractiveness, while making progress in developing a modern international metropolis.
Qingdao has strengthened the role of territorial space planning, accelerating the creation of a "multi-center, networked, and cluster-based" urban spatial framework. A green, efficient, and well-protected territorial spatial layout has taken shape.
Housing conditions have improved, with the total housing stock reaching 3.67 million units and per capita urban residential space reaching 36.2 square meters, marking a shift from adequate housing to comfortable living.
Urban functionality and quality have been elevated through over 20 key projects, including the Chongqing Elevated Road and the second phase of the Cross-Sea Bridge Elevated Road, along with the completion of 124 previously disconnected roads, over 280 public parking facilities, and about 86,000 new parking spaces.
Refined urban management has been steadily enhanced, with a fully established, integrated waste classification system covering collection, transportation, and disposal. Over 1,300 classified collection routes and six waste treatment parks effectively meet urban needs.
By strengthening planning guidance, improving construction quality, and enhancing governance efficiency, Qingdao is better meeting its residents' growing aspirations for a better life.
