Jimo district in Qingdao, Shandong province has witnessed robust development in automobile and marine related industries.

In the first half of this year, the gross domestic product of Jimo was 76.31 billion yuan ($10.46 billion), an increase of 6.4 percent year-on-year. The added value of the district's automobile manufacturing industry increased by 16.6 percent year-on-year, while the output value of its marine industries reached 31.8 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6 percent.

Automobile and marine related industries have become strong engines of Jimo district's sustained and steady economic growth, said local officials.

At present, Jimo's automobile industry is one of the 25 characteristic industrial clusters in Shandong province. Relying on more than 400 automobile and parts enterprises, Jimo is accelerating the development of the automotive industry.

Located in the eastern part of Jimo, the Blue Valley area gathers more than 50 national-level scientific research institutions and universities and has created a large number of major scientific research achievements to fill gaps at home and abroad.

The Blue Valley area is also home to four industrial parks focusing on marine information, marine biology, marine high-end equipment, and marine new energy.
