Laixi cultivates public brand for agricultural products

Laixi, a county-level city in Qingdao, Shandong province is in the midst of building a regional public brand for local agricultural products to boost rural vitalization efforts.

Called "Laixi-style Specialties", the public brand for local agricultural products is cooperating with the Qingdao Supply and Marketing Cooperative Association and the Qingdao Agricultural Products Marketing Association to supply about 1,000 metric tons of vegetables and fruits to the Qingdao government agencies and other units.

An important agricultural city in northern Qingdao, Laixi has a solid agricultural foundation and distinct industrial characteristics. It boasts 226 famous agricultural product brands and is home to Qingdao's first Hema Village, an agricultural base launched by Alibaba to ensure a supply, through online orders, of high quality fruit and vegetables, through refinement, standardization and digital transformation of local farmers' agricultural produce.

Laixi has been working on boosting the development of several industrial leading companies and has formed six agricultural product processing industrial chains covering grain and oil, milk, broiler, pork, vegetables and fruits.

In 2022, there were 125 agricultural product processing enterprises above designated size with a combined operating income of 28.3 billion yuan ($3.93 billion), an increase of 2.9 percent year-on-year, in Laixi.
