Shinan district in Qingdao has made unremitting efforts to improve medical services in the district and strictly implemented medical reforms during the past 10 years, local media reported.

Over the past decade, the district's medical resources have been significantly expanded, with a 8,000-square-meter public health service building being put into use and several community health service centers being renovated or newly built.

A total of 144 private medical institutions were established and a basic medical service system covering the community, sub-district and district levels has been developed.

More and more high-quality medical service resources have been allocated to communities and sub-districts to provide more convenient and highly efficient services to local residents.

During the past 10 years, Shinan has also made stable progress in improving medical services for special groups of people, including children, women and the senior citizens.

The Shinan People's Hospital has led Qingdao in integrating medical treatment with elderly care by setting up special wards for the elderly who are bedridden and require professional care from nurses.

In 2021, Shinan started to offer cancer and chronic respiratory disease screenings for people aged 45 and over, which has benefited more than 3,000 people.
