Qingdao will organize 40 events ranging from art performances and farmers' sports meetings to calligraphy and painting exhibitions to mark the fifth Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival.

Since 2018, the autumn equinox of the lunar calendar has been set up as the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, in a bid to further strengthen the role of agriculture and rural areas and improve the sense of gain and happiness among farmers.

This year the festival falls on Sept 23. The celebration in Qingdao will last from Sept 10 to Oct 10, with Pingdu city being the main venue.

Livestreaming sessions aimed at promoting local farm produce will be held in the city during the festival.
