A big art show was held in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province on June 22 as part of a series of artistic events celebrating the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The 20th CPC National Congress will be held in the second half of 2022 to draw China's development blueprint for the next stage.

A total of 40 shows and 17 performances are scheduled for the art show series, which will be held in different theaters across the city till December.

Performances to be staged range from national opera, modern Beijing Opera to Lyu Opera and also include symphonic events such as children's plays. They are aimed at highlighting the main themes of the times and displaying the city's artistic side.

The Qingdao Song and Dance Theatre and three other groups will give the performances a high level of quality thanks to their extensive repertoire, exceptional talent, and intricate arrangements.

Many of the major plays planned for the performance season have earned national and regional honors, according to Zhang Lequn, deputy general manager of the Qingdao Performing Arts Group and director of the Qingdao Song and Dance Theatre. The general public will have a fantastic opportunity to appreciate high-end regional artwork.

The event series is co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, the Qingdao State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the Qingdao Performing Arts Group.
