The eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province made the lists of the country's top 10 cities in terms of tourism investment and tourist satisfaction, local media reported.

The lists, based on data from a survey conducted by the China Tourism Academy, a data center under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, were released during the China (Zhengzhou) World Tourism City Mayor Forum held from April 20 to 23.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, Qingdao has been renowned as one of China's leading tourist destinations, with its attractions and health resorts attracting frequent praise from many of the country's political leaders and celebrities.

Its white beaches, European-style architecture, well-preserved heritage, and Laoshan Mountain - a sacred site for Taoists - have long attracted tourists from around the world.

In recent years, the city has been ramping up efforts to promote the city as an international style and fashion destination. The city's new image, focusing on openness, modernity, vitality, and fashion, is designed to attract more young tourists, stimulate creative new ideas, and further enhance the city's influence and attractiveness.
