Qingdao to promote more comprehensive employment

The eastern coastal city of Qingdao will intensify efforts to achieve more comprehensive and higher quality employment, with personal income growth basically in step with economic growth, and marked improvements in distribution structure over the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

Local officials made the remarks during a recent news conference held by the information office of Qingdao municipal people's government.

The city will release more measures and policies to improve the training system for skilled workers, create a favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, guide young workers to hone their skills and build a skilled workforce to boost employment, entrepreneurship and innovation in the city and ensure high-quality economic growth.

In the coming five years, the city plans to introduce 250,000 talents from various industries to support local industrial upgrading and development every year.

The city will launch targeted preferential policies to attract urgently-needed professionals for industrial development, college graduates, overseas elites and highly educated talents.

New policies will also be reinforced to nurture high-quality and skilled workers to optimize the employment market.

The city will continue to promote vocational education in the next five years to produce high-quality and skilled workers.

Qingdao will increase efforts to promote the spirit of model workers and craftsmanship to encourage more workers, especially those from the younger generation, to improve their skills and cultivate more highly-skilled workers and craftsmen.

Over the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the city will create more than 1.75 million new urban jobs, with 350,000 new urban jobs created every year. The registered urban unemployment rate will be kept at around 4.5 percent, and the overall employment situation will be stable, said local authorities.
