Qingdao New Oriental Academy campus starts construction
The Qingdao New Oriental Academy campus started construction on Oct 26 in Pingdu, a county-level city in Qingdao, Shandong province.
According to local officials, the project, which represents an investment of 800 million yuan ($119.28 million), will be the first school of its kind in the Jiaodong Peninsula.
Covering an area of 66,667 square meters, the project will feature a world-class K12 school (from kindergarten to high school) with 60 classes and facilities that can accommodate 1,500 students and 200 teaching and administrative staff. The school is scheduled to open on Sept 1, 2021.
New Oriental Academy is an international bilingual academy that was created as a fully-owned member school in 2010 by the New Oriental Education and Technology Group.
"With access to extensive teaching resources, competent teaching teams, and a well-coordinated curriculum, the Qingdao campus is committed to preparing students for an overseas college education and fostering more talent," said Yu Minhong, founder of New Oriental Education and Technology Group, at the groundbreaking ceremony.
