Qingdao Metro Group (青岛地铁集团) was formally established on February 22, 2013. 

At present, the company and the Qingdao Metro Engineering Construction Command Office comprehensively exercise the functions of command and coordination, supervision and assessment, housing expropriation and compensation, review of metro line planning and station layout. Together they also guide and support the development of the metro equipment manufacturing industry and related businesses.

Qingdao Metro Group is responsible for the investment, financing, construction, operation and management of the Qingdao rail transit project.

At the same time, it also undertakes project construction management, tendering, and technical services for Qingdao rail transit infrastructure and public facilities projects. 

In addition, it has functions of land consolidation and development, comprehensive development and management of urban rail transit-related resources, property management, domestic advertising and an import and export business of related goods and technology.
