Senior representatives from three major international standardization organizations, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and International Telecommunications Union (ITU), have confirmed that they will attend the 2017 Qingdao International Standardization Forum on June 27-29 in Qingdao, Shandong province.

According to the organizing committee of QFS, it is making good progress on arranging the bid invitations for meeting affairs and invitations for domestic and foreign guests.

The organizers plan to invite 400 high-profile representatives both from home and abroad in the field of standardization to discuss and coordinate hotspot issues related to international standardization and social, economic and environmental development.

It consists of 84 member states, and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. China entered the IEC in 1957 and entered the executive committee for the first time in 1980.

The IEC provides a platform to companies, industries and governments for meeting, discussing and developing the international standards they require.

Close to 20 000 experts from industry, commerce, government, test and research labs, academia and consumer groups participate in IEC standardization work.

The ITU, founded in 1865, has the longest history of any standardization organization. It currently has a membership of 193 countries and almost 800 private-sector entities and academic institutions. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, it has twelve regional and area offices around the world.

The ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies: ICTs. Its major tasks are to allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develop the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.
