Buchang Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical company based in Heze, Shandong province, is at the forefront of modernizing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). By integrating advanced industrial information technology into its production processes, the company has fully automated its TCM manufacturing, from raw materials to finished products.
With a focus on research, development, production, and sales of patented TCM drugs, Buchang Pharmaceuticals has established China's largest production base for cardiovascular TCM and TCM injections. The company currently holds over 200 drug patents.
A visit to the company's state-of-the-art industrial park reveals a highly automated production process. In the central digital control center, the "brain" of the park, a small team monitors and operates the entire production line. The TCM extraction process is fully automated, ensuring consistent product quality across batches. This automation minimizes human error and contamination, while significantly reducing costs.
To address the issue of waste generated during TCM production, the company has developed a technology to convert this waste into biomass fuel, generating electricity or steam.
Buchang Pharmaceuticals is a prime example of how traditional Chinese medicine can be successfully combined with modern technology to create a more efficient and sustainable industry.
