'Friendly Shandong' cultural tourism event kicks off in Portugal

A cultural tourism promotion event titled "Friendly Shandong, Home of Confucius" and the China Shandong Farmers Painting Exhibition was held at the Confucius Institute of the University of Lisbon in Portugal on July 6.

More than 50 people from Portuguese cultural tourism institutions, associations and corporate leaders including Pu Daxian, general manager of TAMITRIP.S.L and Zhang Ronglan, general manager of Premium Grandees Spertour, as well as staff members and students of the Confucius Institute, attended the event.

The exhibition showcased more than 30 paintings from Jiaozhou, Linqu, Rizhao, Qingzhou and other places in Shandong that reflect the spirit, aesthetics and living conditions of local farmers.

The exhibition will continue at the Confucius Institute of the University of Lisbon.

During the event, the delegation led by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province met with António Candeias, vice-president of the University of Evora in Portugal and founder of the China-Portugal Joint Laboratory of Cultural Heritage Conservation Science supported by the Belt and Road Initiative.

The delegates also toured the teaching institutions of the university and studios of the joint laboratory, and reached preliminary cooperation intentions regarding the protection and exchange of cultural heritage.
