Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, hosted a promotional conference focusing on the smart sensor industry in Shanghai on Nov 4.

A series of high-end smart sensor projects were signed at the conference, promoting cooperation between Jinan and the Yangtze River Delta in related fields.

As one of the three pillars of information technology, sensor technology is an important support for the development of intelligent manufacturing, industrial internet and smart city construction fields, said Yu Haitian, mayor of Jinan, during his keynote speech at the conference.

In recent years, Jinan is working to build a modern industrial system led by the digital economy, with advanced manufacturing as the focus and the modern service industry as its supporter, Yu added.

According to Yu, Jinan, a city with a permanent resident population of over 10 million, had a GDP of 1.14 trillion yuan ($156.95 billion) in 2021.

The strength of the city's scientific innovation has been significantly enhanced and the city's urban construction has been significantly improved, which provide a better business environment for enterprises to develop. Yu also expressed hope that more entrepreneurs will visit and invest in Jinan.
